Skylar McBurnett #27

MX is a way of life and fortunately we're able to enjoy it every weekend at ADVMX. However, it's ALWAYS better when you can ride with your kids and especially when that kid is your daughter, Skylar McBurnett, the 2011 Class B TORCS Champion.  So, in this case the phrase "Like Father, Like Son"  needs to be changed to "Like Father, Like Daughter!" because Skylar can definitely ride fast and she is our latest Featured Rider (and daughter of our first Featured Rider, Jason McBurnett).  Congratulations Skylar!

Check out this video and watch Skylar take a few laps around ADVMX new main track.   Also be sure to read the Q&A below to see what makes her tick.

Inside Skylar's Helmet:

1) How long have you been riding at the track and how did you hear about it?

Since I was 10 or 11 or so, maybe 4.5 years and my Dad..

2) Who's your favorite pro rider?

Ryan Dungey

3) Would you rather be a SX or MX champion?

MX Champion

4) What’s your race # and why?

27, because when I was 8 someone asked me to pick a number between 1 and 1000 and I said the answer, 27.

5) You are the 2011 TORCS champion, how it going defending that title?

It is good to know I have that title, I am just hoping I can make it on a box this year.

6) Who introduced you to riding?

My dad and I used to ride four wheels, and then he went to two, so I followed in his steps.

7) The perfect day is when?.....

Wednesday, when we load all the bikes up and go night riding.

8) What specific skills are you working on? Cornering, jumping?...
I am working on standing up more.

9) What are you riding now and what would you like to ride next?

I am riding a Honda crf150r Big wheel. I would like to be on a Honda 250, in the next couple months.

10) What's your latest MX splurge/expense

My forks had to be redone.

11) What's one thing most people don’t know about you?

I have a goat! No, uhm maybe that I really want to be faster than my dad.

12) Do you have any superstitions before you go riding for the day?

No, but I used to have one, where we all had to sing a song before I rode.

13) What has riding/racing taught you?

Well racing has taught me to be a better sport. You go on podium and when someone talks crap, you just to kinda learn to shrug your shoulders and laugh

14) What's one little tip or thing you do before you ride?

Shake your goggles out! Because if there is something in there, it hurts when it fly's in your eye!

15) What's the last book, magazine you read?

I haven't read anything sense school.... So maybe a poem haha

16) On the way to the track I was listening to....RAP because it makes me wake up.

17) If I'm not at the track….I'm on the lake, surfing!

18) Anyone (Sponsors or others) you would like to thank?

My dad, Leatt Braces, GoPro, and Rocky Mountain and ADVMX!!
